Fakhrul’s bail extended till Nov 2
The Supreme Court today extended till November 2 its order that had granted bail to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in three arson and vandalism cases.
The court ordered Fakhrul to surrender before a lower court on that day.
Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order after hearing three separate petitions filed by Fakhrul seeking extension of its earlier order.
The judge sent the petitions to the full bench of the Appellate Division for hearing the petitions on November 2.
The Appellate Division on July 13 granted bail to the BNP leader for six weeks in the cases on health ground.
The court also had directed Fakhrul to surrender before a lower court after expiry of the six weeks. Later the same court on August 31 extended the order for six weeks more.
All the three cases were filed during BNP-led 20-party alliance’s anti-government agitation this year.
