Govt must reach an understanding before polls: Moudud
BNP Standing Committee Member Moudud Ahmed today said that the government will be compelled to reach an understanding with his party before the next general elections.
"You must come to a negotiation before holding the election after releasing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail," Moudud said while addressing a discussion at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity.
The government is thinking that BNP will join the next polls keeping Begum Zia aside from the elections, Moudud said, adding that no fair election will be held in the country without her (Khaleda).
Moudud, also a former law minister, expressed his optimism over Khaleda Zia's immediate bail and called upon his party men not to be worried about this.
He also criticised the ruling Awami League for carrying out election campaign spending public money depriving BNP of permission for political programme.
