Goyeshwar gets bail
The High Court today granted ad-interim bail to BNP leader Goyeshwar Chandra Roy in a case filed on charge of planning subversive acts in December last year.
However, the BNP standing committee member cannot get released from jail as he has been shown arrested in two other criminal cases, his lawyer Nitai Roy Chowdhury told The Daily Star.
The court today issued a rule asking the government to explain why he should not be granted regular bail in the case.
The bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Md Khasruzzaman granted his bail till disposal of the rule.
Police filed the case against Goyeshwar with Turag Police Station on December 26 under the Special Powers Act, 1974.
The BNP policymaker was arrested in the case on the same day.
He filed the bail petition with the HC last month.
