Quader asks AL men to keep calm
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today called upon his party men not to be over enthusiastic over BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's imprisonment.
"Don't be effusive. Just keep calm," Quader, in an instant reaction, came up with the call while addressing a press conference at the party President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi office in Dhaka.
Referring to the BNP's protest programme over the verdict, Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said they (BNP) announced the programme against the judiciary as the verdict was delivered by the court.
BNP is trying to create a chaotic situation in the country in the name of its peaceful protest programme, the Awami League leader said.
Earlier in the day, Awami League Publicity Affairs Secretary Hasan Mahmud said no one is above the law and it has been proved through the judgment.
“It is not a matter of our satisfaction or dissatisfaction," he added.
"Our claim has also been proved authentic," Mahmud said, referring to Awami Legaue’s repeated claims that the BNP chief and her son Tarique were involved in corruption.
