Greetings over tea: PM invites Jukta Front Feb 2
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today invited Jukta Front at her official residence Gono Bhaban to exchange greetings over tea on February 2.
A 23-member delegation led by Jukta Front Chairman Badruddoza Chowdhury will join the tea party around 3:30pm in response to the prime minister’s invitation, said Jahangir Alam, press secretary of the Jukta Front chief.
Sheikh Hasina also president of the ruling Awami League sent separate letters to 23 leaders of the party on Monday inviting them to attend the tea party, he said.
Leaders from both sides will exchange greeting during the tea party, Alam said.
Badruddoza Chowdhury led Bikolpodhara Bangladesh was one of the key components of Jatiya Oikyafront, but took part in the 11th parliamentary election under Awami League-led grand alliance severing tie with the Okiyafront.
The prime minister yesterday hosted a tea party at the Gono Bhaban in honour of foreign diplomats, heads of different missions and representatives of international organisations.
Awami League sources said Hasina would invite to the Gono Bhaban the 75 political parties and alliances with whom she had sat for a dialogue before the election.
As a part of this, the prime minister invited Jatiya Oikyafront at the tea party, but they outright denied the offer on the ground of its rejection of the polls results.
