Police don't obstruct any peaceful BNP programme: Home minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today said police do not interfere in any peaceful programme of BNP.
"Police don't restrain BNP or others from holding any peaceful political or social programmes," he said.
The minister was speaking while unveiling cover of an auto-biography titled 'Jibon Smriti-2' written by freedom fighter Humayun Kabir, also a former deputy minister and general secretary of Brahmanbaria district Awami League, at Ostad Alauddin Khan municipality auditorium in Brahmanbaria.
The government also does not create interruption to any programme whether it is political or social, the minister said.
Asked about the permission of holding rally by BNP on February 22 in Dhaka, he said, "The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has earlier imposed a ban on holding rallies and the ban has not yet been lifted."
The police commissioner will take decision where BNP can hold the meeting or rally if the party is permitted to hold the programme, he said.
