Kalabagan club president remanded
Kalabagan Krira Chakra Club President Shafiqul Alam Feroz, who was arrested last night from the club on charges of possessing an illegal firearm and drugs, has been placed on a 10-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmuda Akter passed the order after police produced Shafiqul before the court seeking 20-day remand in the two cases.
Shafiqul was put on a five-day remand in the case under the Firearms Act while another five-day remand in the case under the Narcotics Control Act, reports our staff correspondent from the spot.
Earlier in the day, the two cases were filed against Shafiqul with Dhanmondi Police Station, Officer-in-Charge of the police station Abdul Latif told The Daily Star.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) detained Kalabagan Krira Chakra Club President Shafiqul Alam Feroz and his four associates from the club last night. The members of the elite force also seized a firearm, bullets and Yaba tablets from their procession.
Feroz is also an executive committee member of the central Krishak League, a body of the ruling Awami League.
