Khaleda to be acquitted if court remains neutral: Moudud

BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed today said that his party chief Khaleda Zia would be acquitted if the court remains neutral.

“Trial proceeding of corruption case against Khaleda Zia is going on just because of political of vengeance. Khaleda Zia will be acquitted if the court remains neutral,” he said.

Addressing a discussion at Jatiya Press Club organised by Democratic Council, the BNP leader said that level playing field will have to be ensured for paving the path of fair elections.

Moudud also said BNP wants to resolve the political crisis through talks. “Otherwise there will be no option left except waging movement.”

Claiming that the constitution is for the people and it can only be amended if political parties reach to a consensus, Moudud urged the government to hold talks on the formation of the election time government.

Alleging that the BNP has been denied to hold meetings, rallies and processions, Moudud said, “Government fears of BNP and that’s why it denied BNP to hold rallies.”

Besides, addressing a human chain in front of the Jatiya Press Club, the party’s Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Noman said BNP has the capacity to participate in the national election.

“But if we are forced to participate in the elections, we will take our own course,” he warned.
