Khaleda shown arrested in Comilla arson case

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been shown arrested in a case filed for arson attack in Comilla during the anti-government movement by BNP-led 20-party alliance in 2015.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Mustain Billah came up with the order after ending hearing of the case today, Comilla Police Super Md Shah Abid Hossain, told The Daily Star.

The court also asked the jail authority to produce the BNP chief before it on March 28, he said.

Besides, Jahangir Kabir, senior jail super of Dhaka Central jail, told The Daily Star that Khaleda's arrest warrant in connection with the Comilla arson case has been handed over to the jail authority.

On February 3, 2015, a case was filed with Chauddagram Police Station in Comilla after seven people were killed and 25 others were injured in a petrol bomb attack on a bus.

The law enforcers submitted the charge sheet of the case to a Comilla court accusing Khaleda and the others on March 2 last year.

The court issued the order hours after Khaleda Zia secured four-month bail in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
