Khaleda meets senior BNP leaders
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia met her party’s senior leaders at her Gulshan office to discuss the country’s current political situation and next course of political programme after the Eid festival.
All the party leaders and activists in the districts and upazila levels have been urged to gear up their activities, Nazrul Islam Khan, BNP standing committee member, told reporters after the over two-hour-long meeting.
In the meeting the leaders also demanded immediate release of their party men including the acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir from jail.
The party also asked for a proper treatment to the leaders and activists who are sick there, Khan said.
The party chief Khaleda will leave the country on July 8 to perform Umrah in Saudi Arabia, he added.
The meeting started at the party chief’s office around 9:10pm with Khaleda Zia in the chair, Sayrul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP chairperson’s media wing, told The Daily Star.
The National Standing Committee members of the party, its vice-chairmen, advisers to the party chief and joint secretary generals of the party took part in the meeting, he added.
