Khaleda reiterates call for dialogue

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today reiterated her call for a dialogue with the opposition parties to resolve the country’s “political crisis” and hold a free, fair and acceptable election.

“We’ve urged the government for dialogue with all to resolve the crisis and to restore a people’s government through holding a credible election,” Khaleda said.

The BNP chief made the call while addressing the national council of a faction of Islami Oikya Jote, a component in the BNP-led 20-partty alliance, at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.

“Now the ball is in the ruling party’s (Awami League’s) court. And I hope that the ruling party would resolve the crisis through a dialogue shunning the path of confrontation,” she said and added that there is no democracy and good governance in the country at present.

“All institutions have collapsed as anarchy is prevailing everywhere. The law and order has deteriorated sharply,” she alleged.

Claiming that incidents like injustice, repression, murder, violation of women, corruption and looting have exceeded all records, Khaleda said common people are now in extreme miseries and sufferings.

“The government is now busy hanging on to power only by choosing the path of slavery instead of friendship with foreign countries,” she alleged.
