Khaleda to be taken to BSMMU: Minister tells BNP
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said today BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will be taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for treatment immediately.
A medical board has been formed for her treatment in line with the directives of the High Court, he told the delegation of BNP who went up to him with issues of Khaleda’s treatment.
Khaleda will be taken to BSMMU for medical tests as advised by the board, the minister said.
Emerging from the meeting, held this afternoon, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the home minister assured them of proper treatment to Khaleda Zia.
The high-powered delegation of BNP went to the ministry office of Home Minister Kamal around 2:30pm. Led by Fakhrul, BNP standing committee members Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury were in the meeting.
BNP leaders have long been alleging that their chairperson's health condition has deteriorated sharply and she needs to receive better treatment.
Khaleda has been in jail since a special court convicted her in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8 last year.
