BNP doing politics over Khaleda's treatment: Quader

Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said that BNP is doing politics over the issue of its party Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s  treatment.

"She has been given treatment as per the jail code and there is no negligence in providing health care to her. But the way they talk, it seems that they are more interested in doing politics over the matter," Quader told reporters at a city hotel this morning.

The home ministry and health ministry are there to take care if Khaleda's health condition deteriorates, he added.

Regarding the ongoing protest programmes of BNP demanding Khaleda’s release from jail, Quader gave suggestion to BNP to shun protest programmes and take up the path of law.

"The legal battle is the only way for the party in this regard," Quader, also general secretary of ruling Awami League, said.

Terming the upcoming city corporation elections in Gazipur and Khulna “semifinals” prior to the national election, Quader said that the final will be in December.

He was replying to the questions of the journalists after he emerged from a contract signing ceremony of Package-5 and Package-6 of MRT Line-6.
