Return Manna’s passport for 3 months: SC
The Supreme Court today directed the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka to return the passport of Nagarik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna for three months so that he can go abroad for treatment.
The apex court also ordered Manna to submit the passport to the CMM in seven days after he returns from abroad.
The three-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the orders following a petition filed by Manna seeking its order upon the CMM to return his passport so that he can go abroad for treatment.
Advocate M Monjur Alam, a lawyer for Manna, told The Daily Star that the Supreme Court on November 28 last year granted bail to Manna in two separate sedition cases on a condition that he will submit his passport to the CMM.
As per the Supreme Court’s directive Manna submitted his passport to the CMM on December 18, last year.
