Militancy rises due to govt’s ‘intolerable acts’: Khaleda
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today said extremists and militants are raising their heads in the country due to undemocratic and intolerable acts of the government.
“Democracy has been marooned while militant forces are raising their heads as the government has indulged in acts of repression and suppression,” Khaleda Zia said in a massage floated for media this afternoon on the occasion of International Anti-Repression Day.
The former prime minister said the government is letting loose its loyal forces when people are raising their voices against its misdeeds and mismanagement.
The people from different classes and professions like publishers, writers, singers, free thinkers and religious minorities are being attacked by the militant forces rampantly, she said.
Khaleda, also the chief of the 20-party alliance, expressed her doubt over the government’s role against the militant forces.
Democracy in Bangladesh is confined while massive misdeeds are going on here as BNP leaders and activists are being killed in the name of drive against the recurrence of militancy in the country, she alleged.
In the massage, Khaleda also criticised the government for killing people in the name of ‘gunfight’.
