Mirza Fakhrul at BSMMU
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University today complying with a High Court order.
He was taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University from Gazipur's Kashimpur Jail-2 at 2:00pm, said Syrul Kabir Khan, a staff of BNP chairperson's media wing, told The Daily Star.
The High Court on June 9 asked the prison authorities to admit the BNP leader to the BSMMU immediately for his treatment.
The order came after Fakhrul's wife Rahat Ara Begum filed a writ petition saying that her husband had been suffering from various diseases including diabetes and heart complications.
On January 5, Fakhrul was detained from Jatiya Press Club and shown arrested in seven vandalism and arson cases.
Among the cases, Fakhrul got bail in one.
