Misdeeds of ruling quarter getting exposed: Fakhrul
Taking a swipe at the ruling party leaders for corruption, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said misdeeds of the ruling quarter are getting exposed as they crossed the limit by indulging in widespread corruption and plundering.
“The government has no success in any sector. It has restored gambling to hang on to power, but people will not allow it as they love democracy and independence,” Fakhrul said following the arrest of some ruling party leaders in drives against illegal casinos and businesses.
He was addressing a human chain in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka, demanding the immediate release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.
Fakhrul said that people would take the right decision that they had taken in the past if the government does not step down the right away.
“I hope that a good sense will prevail upon the government and it will stay aside from power to restore democracy, free Khaleda Zia from jail and hold a credible election under a neutral government and an Election Commission, canceling the current parliament,” he said.
