Mohsin Ali warns over online posts
Social Welfare Minister Syed Mohsin Ali today warned that journalists and online activists would have to face actions if they write or post “objectionable” statements in any media or social media platforms.
Addressing a view exchange programme in Narsingdi, the minister said, “Information and Communications Technology Act will be implemented in this regard. Lives of some people might get ruined. It will not be tolerated if anyone writes false and imaginary statements against a minister.”
On the other hand, the minister also lambasted journalists, saying media reports of Rana Plaza tragedy have diminished Bangladesh’s image in front of the world, reports our Narsingdi corresponded.
America has withdrawn the GSP facility due to repeated reports on television channels, the minister said, adding that if the journalists were patriotic, this would not have happened.
The view exchange meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Abu Hena Morshed Zaman, and Narsingdi-3 lawmaker Sirajul Islam Mollah, among others, attended the meeting.
