MPs hail verdict against Khaleda
Awami League-led ruling alliance lawmakers in parliament today hailed the verdict that sentenced BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to five years in jail saying that the rule of law has been established in the country through the verdict.
Talking on point of order, they also said the verdict proved ‘no one is above the law’ and ‘no one will be spared after committing corruption.’
"Our constitution says all citizens are equal before the law and the verdict once again proves the authenticity," Awami League Lawmaker Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim said in the parliament.
Jatiya Samajtanrik Dal Lawmaker Shirin Akther said that people's expectations have been reflected through the verdict.
MP Nazmul Haque Prodhan, general secretary of another fraction of the JSD, said the verdict was much awaited by the people and it proved no one is above the law.
Bangladesh Tarikat Federation Lawmaker Syed Nazibul Bashar Maizvandary said that the verdict was ‘milestone’ to establish rule of law in the country.
