My remarks projected partially: Menon

Taking a U-turn from his yesterday’s remarks that people could not vote in the December 30 national election, Worker Party President Rashed Khan Menon today claimed that his remarks have been projected partially, sending a wrong message to the national politics.

“A wrong message has gone to the national and 14-party alliance politics centring my remarks at a conference of the party’s Barishal district unit. Confusion has arisen for projecting my remarks partially,” Menon said in a statement.

He also said, “I want to say clearly that the election is an outcome of the struggle of 14-party alliance and the government has also been formed through its struggle.”

While addressing a conference of the party’s Barishal district unit in the city yesterday, Menon, who is a component of the Awami League-led 14-party alliance, alleged that people could not vote in the December 30 parliamentary polls.

“Although I was elected in the election, I am testifying that people couldn’t cast their votes in that election. They couldn’t vote in the union parishad and upazila parishad polls,” he said.

Meanwhile, talking about Menon’s claim, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader questioned whether he would have made the claim had he been a minister.

“He (Menon) is a senior leader. I humbly want to know whether he would have made the claim had he been a minister. Why did he make the claim at this time after so many days?” Quader said.
