Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmuda Akhter passed the order after Rafiqul's lawyer Taherul Islam Tauhid submitted three petitions -- one for granting bail on condition to file an appeal to the higher court, one for giving him first class division, and the other for providing him proper treatment in jail.
After hearing, the magistrate rejected the bail petition, ordered to send Barrister Rafiqul to jail, and granted two other petitions as per the Jail Code.
Police arrested Barrister Rafiqul from Bangla Motor in the capital around 6:30pm on Tuesday after he was sentenced to three years' imprisonment by a Dhaka court.
His jail sentence came in a case filed against him for not submitting his wealth statement to the Anti-Corruption Commission.
Before pronouncement of the judgement, Judge Sheikh Golam Mahbub of the Special Judge Court-6 cancelled Rafiqul's bail as he had remained absent from the court on that date. An arrest warrant was also issued against him.

Metropolitan Magistrate Shahidul Islam passed the order when the 13 accused were produced before the court.
Advocate Nitai Roy Chowdhury, father of Nipun, and their defence lawyers sought bail for them.
