CPB wants to build country in light of 1972 constitution
Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) wants to build the country in light of 1972 constitution if the party is voted to power.
The left-leaning party will incorporate the vision in its election manifesto which will be made public on December 1, a close source of the party told The Daily Star this evening.
The manifesto with the slogan of “Vision-Liberation War 71” will be placed with a pledge to reach economic advancement to the country’s 99 percent people instead of serving the interest of only a single percent.
Claiming that the plundering, absence of democracy, communalism and imperialism are the four major problems for people of the country, the CBP in its manifesto will say they will deal with the issues if it voted to power, the source said.
According to the source, the manifesto will highlight the issues like equity, justice, humanity, social dignity and the four fundamental principles of the 1972 constitution: Secularity, Nationalism, Democracy and Socialism (meaning economic and social justice for all).
The issues like the spirit of the Liberation War, Constitution, state mechanism and reform in the prevailing political culture will be also highlighted in the manifesto, the party source said.
Apart from these, there will be clear concepts in the manifesto on different issues including freedom of speech and expression, independence, human rights, democratic institutions, democratic decentralisation and the empowerment of the local government institutions, he said.
In the manifesto, the CPB will pledge that it would ensure peoples’ freedom of practising own religious faiths and would come up with a guideline so that no one can use religion to gain political interest, the CPB source added.
The CPB will adopt a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, looting, bribery and social discrimination in the manifesto, he added.
