Cumilla murder case: Khaleda gets 6-month bail
The High Court today granted six-month bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a case filed for killing eight persons by setting a bus on fire in Cumilla’s Chouddagram upazila on February 2, 2015.
The bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mozibur Rahman passed the order following a petition filed by Khaleda seeking bail in the murder case.
However, Khaleda cannot get released from the jail as she is arrested in three other cases, Barrister AKM Ehsanur Rahman told The Daily Star.
Earlier, Khaleda Zia's lawyer Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali told the HC that his client's name was not mentioned in the first information report (FIR) and there is no specific allegation against her.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam opposed the petition, saying there are specific allegations against Khaleda of provoking the torching of a bus, in which eight persons were killed and 25 others injured.
