UP election: 2 stabbed outside Patuakhali voting centre
Two persons were stabbed by rivals outside a voting centre at Keshabpur in Baufal upazila of Patuakhali during the union parishad election today.
Rabbi (35) and Rash Mohon (38) were attacked on the field of Keshabpur High School centre around 8:15am, reports our Patuakhali correspondent.
After the incident, the returning officer suspended voting at the centre for one and a half hours.
Voting resumed around 9:45am, said Baufal Upazila Executive Officer Zakir Hossain.
On information, Border Guard Bangladesh, Rapid Action battalion and additional police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
The injured were taken to Baufal Upazila Health Complex from where they were shifted to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Voters are casting their votes at 19 union parishads in four upazilas of the district amid rain. Also, presence of women voters is noticeable, our correspondent reported.
