BNP senior leader Moudud Ahmed called upon voters to cast their ballots in the election to free Khaleda Zia and rid the country from the oppressive rule.

“Whatever situation comes, we have to cast our votes. We will have to give a befitting reply through ballots,” Moudud, also a standing committee member of BNP, said.

Claiming that the government’s fall is certain if the voters can cast their votes freely, he said: “It is a big opportunity for the BNP-led 20-party alliance, Jatiya Oikyafront and the countrymen. We will have to cash in on this chance.”

He was addressing a programme at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka this noon.

Moudud cast doubt that the ruling Awami League might create disturbance to bar voters from reaching the polling centres.

“We have no alternative but to cast our votes this time. We will have to put up a strong resistance against such oppressive acts,” he added.

He said, a mass wave has been created across the country in favour of the “Sheaf of Paddy” of BNP and the government will not be able to resist it.

The BNP leader also criticised the Election Commission for not heeding BNP’s allegations against the ruling party and asked people not to keep faith on the commission.

WHEN IS THE ELECTION?

Election Commission has revised polls schedule, deferring the 11th general election by a week to December 30 – a decision taken earlier on November 12.

The authorities have fixed November 28 as the deadline for filing nomination papers, December 2 for scrutiny and December 9, last date of withdrawal.

The move came following demands from several opposition political parties.
