‘Govt not interfering in Khaleda’s punishment’
The government is not interfering with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s punishment, Law Minister Anisul Huq said today.
“The government has no interference in the judiciary. Now, the judiciary is extremely independent,” he said in Brahmanbaria.
He was speaking at a programme in Kasba upazila, apparently replying to BNP’s remarks that the government is delaying Khaleda’s release.
“The lower court convicted Khaleda for stealing orphans’ fund. Later her sentencing was extended to ten years. I don’t find any interference of government here,” he said.
