Dr Kamal, Fakhrul join Armed Forces Day reception

Major opposition alliance Jatiya Oikyafront’s key leaders Dr Kamal Hossain and Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday joined the Armed Forces Day-2018 reception.

Dr Kamal, also president of Gono Forum, and Fakhrul, also secretary general of BNP, joined the reception on the occasion of the Armed Forces Day-2018 held at the Army Multipurpose Complex at Dhaka Cantonment this morning, Syrul Kabir Khan, an official of BNP Chairperson’s press wing, confirmed the development to The Daily Star quoting BNP Standing Committee member and former army chief Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina accorded the reception to the successors of Birshreshthos, and the gallantry award-recipient freedom fighters of the Armed Forces.

Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division (AFD) Lt Gen Md Mahfuzur Rahman delivered the welcome address at the function.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, PM’s Security Advisor Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddiq, Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, and top civil and military officials were present at the programme.

As many as 101 gallantry-award recipient freedom fighters and their heirs including close relatives of the seven Birshreshthos joined the function.
