No movie, drama on Jaha Alam: HC
Any movie or drama on the biopic of Jaha Alam, who was wrongly imprisoned for three years due to an identity mix-up, has been banned by the High Court.
The bench of Justice MD Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam passed the order today in response to a writ petition filed by Anti-Corruption Commission.
The information secretary and cultural affairs secretary have been ordered to make sure that no film or drama is made on the wrongly imprisoned.
The injunction will remain till the disposal of a rule issued by another High Court bench in January this year, ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan told The Daily Star.
Citing from the petition, he said that, the case regarding Jaha Alam is pending with the High Court, so no film can be made on the subjudice matter.
Recently, two newspapers reported that filmmaker Maria Tushar is planning to make a film based on Jaha Alam’s life.
Following the newspaper report, the Anti-Corruption Commission submitted the petition to the High Court seeking a ban on making film on Jaha Alam.
Previously, ACC denied to shoulder responsibility for the imprisonment of Alam who was wrongly placed behind bars by the state agency.
