Ripon, Tabith, Ishrak collect BNP nomination forms
BNP leaders Asaduzzaman Ripon, Tabith Awal and Ishrak Hossain today collected nomination papers of the party to contest mayoral posts in the Dhaka north and south city corporation elections scheduled for January 30.
Ripon and Tabith collected nomination papers for Dhaka North City Corporation polls while Ishrak for the south, Sayrul Kabir Khan, a staff of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s media wing told The Daily Star.
The BNP aspirants collected the nomination papers from party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at its Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka this afternoon, he said.
Asaduzzaman Ripon, former president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, is now acting as a special secretary of BNP while Tabith Awal is a member of the party’s national executive committee.
Besides, Ishrak Hossain is the elder son of recently late BNP vice chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka who was the last mayor of the undivided Dhaka City Corporation.
The elections to Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka North City Corporation will be held on January 30.
The last date for submitting nomination papers is December 31 and the last date for withdrawal of candidacy is January 9. The EC will scrutinise nomination papers on January 2.
