There is no democracy in BNP: Quader
Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said democracy is established in the country but there is no democracy in BNP.
“There is no democracy in BNP, so how does the party establish democracy in the country?” he questioned while responding to a query of a reporter at circuit house here.
About the use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in the Dhaka city polls, Quader said the EVM is well-recognised modern system, which helps make elections free, fair and credible.
In the past, he said, BNP candidates won in the elections in where the EVMs were used.
“There is no problem in using EVMs in polls. The EVM use ensures holding a free, fair and credible election,” the AL general secretary said, assuring that the government would provide all-out support to the Election Commission (EC) in holding the upcoming Dhaka city elections.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Tajul Islam, AL Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, deputy commissioner of Cumilla district Md Abul Fazal Mir and police super Syed Nurul Islam were, among others, present.
