AL waits for BNP's election framework: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said they are waiting for the framework to be given by BNP for the next general election.

"The BNP leaders have sought framework for the election-time government to the Prime Minister. But the Prime Minister won't give it. It's the job of BNP to give the framework. We are waiting for it," Quader, also and the minister for Road Transport and Bridges, said at a press conference at his Secretariat office in Dhaka.

The AL general secretary said its BNP's right to take part in the election but AL has nothing to do in this regard.

Remarks of BNP leaders seem that the present Election Commission (EC) is not neutral but the EC has conducted Rangpur City Corporation polls in a neutral manner, he added.

Quader said the government will extend its cooperation to the EC to hold the election naturally.

There is no necessity to hold any dialogue with BNP on the election issue, he added.

Asked whether there is any scope to keep BNP's representatives in the election-time government, he said BNP was invited to join the election-time government during the previous national election as they had representation in parliament. But they did not join the election-time government.

"Let us first see whether BNP makes such a demand on joining the election-time government or not," he added.
