‘PM’s comment might influence trial’
Terming Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s claim that Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman had link to the August 21 grenade attack "baseless", BNP today said the PM’s comment might influence the trial of the case.
“When the head of the government makes such comments over a sub-judice matter, there is a chance that the trial process might get influenced. We are concerned over the prime minister’s comment,” BNP Spokesperson Asaduzzaman Ripon said at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office.
Sheikh Hasina at a rally in the city’s Bangabandhu Avenue on August 21 said she had no doubt about the involvement of Khaleda Zia and her son in the grisly attack.
From the very beginning the BNP has been demanding a neutral probe into the August 21 grenade attack case, Ripon claimed at the briefing.
"We want that the government will bring the real criminals to book. It will be very unfortunate, if the government use the case as a tool to harass opposition," Ripon added.
