G7: PM joins dinner of Canada governor
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who arrived in Quebec this afternoon on a four-day visit to attend the Outreach Meeting of the G7 Summit, joined a dinner hosted by Governor General of Canada for G7 guests this evening.
Governor General Julie Payette hosted the dinner in honour of the head of governments and international organizations participating in the Outreach Session of the G7 Summit at La Citadelle Quebec.
PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said the prime minister exchanged pleasantries with President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa, Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc, President of Haiti and chair of the Caribbean Community Jovenel Moise and other dignitaries attending the dinner.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali accompanied Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the programme.
The prime minister arrived in Canada to attend the Outreach Session of the G7 Summit at the invitation of her Canadian counterpart Justine Trudeau, who also invited other 15 world potential leaders beyond G7 to the meeting of the group.
The G7 is a platform of the world’s seven largest advanced economies consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Earlier, a flight of Canada Air carrying the premier and members of her entourage landed at Jean Lesage International Airport here at 1.40 am.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to Canada Mizanur Rahman and Director of International Relations and Deputy Chief of Protocol of Ontario Province received the prime minister at the airport.
Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka for Canada on Thursday evening to join G7 Outreach Meeting. She will join G7 Outreach Leaders Programme at Le Manoir Richelieu Hotel on Saturday.
The prime minister will hold a meeting with Justine Trudeau on Sunday morning at her place of residence at Hotel Chateau Frontenac in Quebec.
