Rehman’s wife visits UK High Commission, seeks justice
Senior journalist Shafik Rehman’s wife Taleya Rehman today met two officials of British High Commission and sought justice for her husband, who was arrested in a case filed for attempting to abduct and kill Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
“I have requested the officials to ensure that Shafik, as a UK citizen, is not harassed,” Taleya told reporters at her Eskaton house after meeting with head of counselor service Hasina Rahman and Emily Summers of political section at the British High Commission.
In response to her request, the high commission officials assured that they would look into the welfare of Shafik since he is a UK citizen, Taleya said quoting her discussion with Hasina.
She visited the high commission in Dhaka around noon.
Rehman, who was arrested yesterday in connection with case, is a British citizen and the British High Commission in Dhaka was aware of his arrest, she said.
