Rizvi collects Khaleda’s nomination, Shahjahan Tarique’s
BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed today collected the nomination for Khaleda Zia, the incumbent chief of the party, for the position of chairperson ahead of BNP’s sixth council.
Collection of nomination papers for the position of chairperson and senior vice-chairman began around 11:00am in the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka.
Around 3:30pm, BNP Joint Secretary General Md Shahjahan collected the nomination of senior vice-chairman for the incumbent position holder Tarique Rahman, Khaleda’s elder son who is living in London for the past eight years.

The party yesterday announced the schedule of its sixth national council for elections to its top two posts -- chairperson and senior vice-chairman.
Previously, only the post of chairperson was up to vote. This time, BNP amended its charter to put Tarique’s chair up for vote in the council.
The election will be held on the day of the party's national council on March 19. The aspirants will have to submit nomination papers by March 4. Scrutinisation will be complete by March 5 and last date for withdrawal is by March 6.
