Ruling party men grabbing Hindus’ lands: Ershad
Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad today alleged that the ruling party men are grabbing lands of the Hindu people who voted the government to power.
“It was Hindus who voted Awami League to power. Now their lands are being grabbed. Whom will you complain against? Everybody belongs to the ruling party,” Ershad said.
Speaking at a discussion with JP leaders and activists of Barguna in his Banani office, Ershad, also a special envoy to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, criticised the government for what he said restriction on freedom of the media.
“The government is restricting the freedom of the press. Media cannot write or express their opinions now. They have to say whatever the government wants them to say,” the JP boss said.
“The situation was not like this during my tenure.”
“Democracy is the right to vote and live. Democracy means freedom of speech. Now we have lost the right to write,” he added.
Ershad vowed that if voted to power, journalists and people will get back their right to their freedom of expression.
The Jatiya Party chief also blasted the government saying people have no security at present.
