Shital Pati: PM’s gratitude over Unesco recognition
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today thanked all those involved behind the recent inclusion of traditional art of Shital Pati weaving of Sylhet in the Unesco's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Humanity.
The recognition came yesterday at the twelfth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the ICH from December 4-9 at Jeju in South Korea.
The premier expressed her gratitude at the regular meeting of the cabinet held at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) today, Cabinet Secretary Shafiul Alam told reporters at a briefing at the secretariat.
Meanwhile, the cabinet also approved the speech of the president to be delivered on the first session of the 10th sitting of the National Parliament.
In the speech, President Abdul Hamid, among nine issues, will address the overall situation of the country, economic state, progress of Vision 2021 and the progress of war-crime trials.
A proposal has also been placed in the cabinet to rename Baridhara Park Road after the Cambodia King Norodom Sihamoni. The proposal comes following the naming of a road in Phnom Penh after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The cabinet further adopted a condolence motion following the demise of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq on November 30.
