Those who had killed and burnt hundreds of people in 2013 and 2014 to foil the last national elections have now taken the path of “secret killings”, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told the Jatiya Sangsad today.

While replying to a query by a lawmaker, the prime minister said they had secretly killed people in mosques, temples, pagodas, and teachers of universities and now they made the family member of a police officer their victim.

About the murder of Police Superintendent Babul Akter’s wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, the premier said, “The wife of the police officer (Babul Akter) who fought terrorism was killed.”

She said the killers should not forget that they also have families, who can also be affected by their actions.

“I would request the family members of those who are carrying out the killings, to make them understand it,” she added.

These secret killings are conducted in a similar manner by hacking the neck of the victims, she added.

As the law enforcers had been able to arrest many of the killers, the PM assured her JS colleagues that the rest of the murderers will surely be arrested.

The secret killers and their masters will not be spared, Sheikh Hasina said.

“If the perpetrators think that they would take the country to a different direction by these secret killings, they are wrong,” Hasina said.

Akter’s wife Mitu was stabbed and shot dead by bike-riding assailants in the port city of Chittagong on Sunday.
