Vested quarter wants power through backdoor: Quader

A vested quarter is conspiring to grab state power through backdoor ahead of the upcoming general election, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said today.

"Many incidents will take place ahead of the election. Conspiracy is still on. The vested quarter, who failed to wage a movement, is trying to grab state power through backdoor," he said.

Referring to the BNP's walkout from the January 5, 2014's election, Quader said: "We along with the help of people will pay an appropriate answer if the same trick is re-staged."

He said the election will not be halted for anyone for the greater interest of democracy and constitution.

"Walkout from the election is your (BNP) wish; but any attempt of atrocity like before will be foiled,” he warned.

The road transport and bridges minister was speaking at a programme in Shilpokala Academy at Segunbagicha, Dhaka.
