President, PM mourn death of Attorney General Mahbubey Alam
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock at the demise of Bangladesh Government's chief legal adviser Attorney General Mahbubey Alam.
In a condolence message, the president said Mahbubey Alam had shown extraordinary skill in handling different cases including Bangabandhu murder and crimes against humanity, reports BSS.
"He was a front-fighter in establishing the rule of law…his death is an irreparable loss to the country," he said.
The head of the state also conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
BSS reports, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in a condolence message, said, "The nation will always recall the contribution of former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association Mahbubey Alam to the country's law arena."
Hasina also said that he was efficient in dealing with many important national legal matters as an eminent lawyer of the country.
He always devoted himself to his profession and will be remembered forever with due respect, she added according to BSS.
Apart from the president and prime minister, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah, ministers, state ministers, deputy leader of the House and Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader, lawyers, distinguished personalities, top leaders of different political, socio-economic and cultural organisations expressed deep shock at the demise of the attorney general.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Law Minister Anisul Huq, Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan, Finance Minister AHM Mostafa Kamal, Planning Minister MA Mannan, State Minister for Civil Aviation Mahbub Ali, among others expressed deep shock and prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.
In his condolence message, the law minister said he knew the AG for forty years and they have handled many cases including the Bangabandhu murder case together.
