Quader Mirza resigns from Awami League post
Abdul Quader Mirza, mayor of Basurhat municipality and younger brother of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, has resigned from his post in the ruling party.
Quader Mirza, a member of Companiganj upazila unit of AL, announced his resignation through a Facebook Live around noon today, our Noakhali correspondent reports.
He resigned from the post, alleging that the administration has been harassing him and his followers even though he has been working for AL. "I am not getting justice in a false case and an attack was carried out by my rivals on my men and me," he said.
"Local upazila nirbahi officer, officer-in-charge and inspector have also misbehaved with me and insulted me," he alleged.
"I will not be involved in politics for a party that does not respect me," he said.
He also informed that he has become a member of Bangabandhu Shikkha and Gobeshona Parishad and wants to work for the organisation now.
He will not participate in any election and will not hold any position in future, he said.
