Rape at MC College: 2 more accused confess to crime
Two more accused in the case filed over the gang rape of a woman at Murari Chand (MC) College in Sylhet made confessional statements before a Sylhet court today.
Sylhet Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ziadur Rahman recorded the confessional statement of the two accused -- Tarequl Islam Tarek and Mahfuzur Rahman Masum-- under section-164 of Penal Code, said Amulya Bhushon Chowdhury, assistant commissioner (prosecution) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police.
The magistrate then ordered the two to be sent to jail, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting the police officer.
A team of Shah Poran Police Station, led by Inspector Indranil Bhattacharya, who is also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced the two accused before the court this afternoon.
With these two, eight people accused in the case have given confessional statement before magistrates.
Yesterday, three accused --Shah Mahbubur Rahman Roni, Rajon Miah and Md Ainuddin --gave confessional statement while three others--Saifur Rahman, Robiul Islam and Arjun Lasker-- confessed on Friday.
On September 25, a group of youth raped a woman at a hostel of MC College after forcefully taking the victim and her husband there.
The husband of the victim filed the case on the same night with Shah Poran Police Station accusing six named people and two to three more unnamed men.
