2 including BCL leader arrested over rape in Dhaka
Mirpur police arrested a Bangladesh Chhatra League city unit leader and a woman after a girl filed a case against them yesterday on charge of rape and abetting it.
The arrestees are: Sabuz Al Sahba, vice-president of Dhaka north city unit of BCL, and Fatema alias Jhumur.
They were arrested after a 22-year-old filed a rape case with Mirpur Police Station, said sub-inspector Ruksana Akter, also the investigation officer of the case.
The complainant alleged that she was employed as a house help at Fatema's Cumilla residence couple of days ago. On September 29, Fatema took the girl to Sabuz's Dhaka residence where the accused raped her, Ruksana said quoting the case statement.
Sabuz apparently was supposed to give Tk 10,000 to Fatema. As they were arguing over the money, the girl somehow escaped and later rushed to Mirpur Police Station to file the case.
Police arrested Fatema as she followed the victim to the police station. Later, a team of police arrested Sabuz from Paschim Monipuripara early today, the police officer added.
In a Facebook post yesterday, Sabuz Al Sahba mentioned that he is the vice-president of Dhaka north city unit of BCL and claimed that a vested quarter is trying to frame him in various ways to take political revenge.
