2 college students killed as bus hits their motorcycle in Dhamrai
Two college students were killed after a speeding bus knocked down their motorcycle in Dhaka's Dhamrai area this morning.
The deceased were identified as Sajib Rishad (21), a first year BA student of Govt Debendra College and his friend Rashedul Islam (20), a fresher at Khan Bahadur Awlad Hossain Khan College in Manikganj.
The accident took place on the Dhaka-Aricha highway at Shrirampur area around 10:00am when a Paturia bound Sakura Paribahan bus from Dhaka hit their motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
Both Sajib and Rashedul died on the spot, said Monirul Islam, officer in-charge (OC) of Golra Highway Police Station in Manikganj.
Locals intercepted the bus after the accident but its driver and helper managed to flee, he added.
The bodies were handed over to their family members without autopsy upon their request, the police officer added.
Meanwhile, another motorcyclist was killed after an unknown bus hit his bike in Dhaka's Khilkhet area early today.
The deceased was identified as Shariful Islam (22), a resident of Khilket Uttarpara area.
Victim's cousin Khorshed Alam said Shariful went outside with his bike around 11:45pm yesterday but did not return home.
"In the morning, police informed us that he was killed in road accident," he added.
