3 Rohingyas detained from Bogra passport office
Police have detained three Rohingya people from Bogra passport office as they attempted to collect Bangladeshi passports, providing fake birth certificates.
The detainees are identified as Romiza Bibi, 40, her daughter Hazera Bibi, 22, and five-year-old son Osman Goni, a correspondent reports quoting police.
Amdad Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bogra Sadar Police Station said the detained Rohingyas will be sent to the Cox's Bazar refugee camp immediately.
The legal step will be taken against those who have helped the detainees to reach Bogra, OC Amdad said.
Romiza claimed that an agent named Kalimullah has shown her the path in exchange of Tk 2,000. He also gave hope that he will send them to Indonesia through the way, the correspondent said.
A man of Bogra's Dupchanchia upazila has also helped them and given them shelter at his house, the detainees said.
The employees at the Bogra passport office found inconsistencies in Romiza's documents when she submitted the application with her national ID card and birth registration certificate, said sources at the Bogra passport office.
On information, police went to the spot and detained the three Rohingyas.
