Rohingya crisis: US fact finding body visits Ukhia camp

A US delegation on a fact finding mission today visited the Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhia upazila of Cox's Bazar.

Two US senators and three congressmen led by US Ambassador in Dhaka Marcia Bernicat visited Balukhali camp in Ukhia around 11:00am, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent.

During their one-and-a-half-hour stay at the camp, the delegation talked with Rohingya refugees specially women and children. 

They also observed the relief activities of World Food Programme at the camp.

Based on their experience, the US delegation will file a report to bring the issue to the attention of the international community, the delegation told journalists there.

Md Nikaruzzaman, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Ukhia upazila, was present during the delegation's visit.
