Fight breaks out among TikToker groups about location of sky in Different Touch song
A fight broke out yesterday on Hatirjheel bridge between 17 groups of TikTokers over which part of Dhaka was referred to in the classic 90's Bangla hit pop song "Sraboner Megh Gulo" by the excellent band Different Touch.
Many were hospitalised with minor cuts and scratches while the more serious victims were taken to nearby hair salons to get their hair recoloured and rebonded. Our news team was luckily on site to capture all the activities live as we were doing a TikTok ourselves to help get better pageviews.
The brother and sister duo from Savar who go by the Tiktok handles "Pagla Badol and Moine Er Boin", explained how the song mainly referred to their locality. "Sraboner Megh Gulo Joro Holo Akashe (the Srabon clouds have gathered in the sky)" obviously refers to Savar because we have more sky there," explained Badol with much damncare (an attitude characterised by shoulder shrugs and finger signs of various abominations).
"Sraboner Megh Gulo Joro Holo Akashe (the Srabon clouds have gathered in the sky)" obviously refers to Savar because we have more sky there."
Another Tiktoker countered this claim saying the sky in the song refers to Badda (known as discount tri-state area) because there's a line that says "pothiker paaye haata themeche (the pedestrians have stopped walking)". You cannot walk in Badda because there are buses everywhere ready to run you down.
Another celebrity offered an alternative theory that the sky in the song actually refers to Singapore skies. But that can be the same as any part of Dhaka skies since our capital city is often mentioned in the same hushed reverence as the Garden City, aka Singapore.
The real question remains, will Different Touch get back together to make a song about this? And the real crime that went unnoticed: "Sraboner Megh" needs to be in the next season of Stranger Things for a much needed revival.
