Helmets made compulsory in district town
Mostish Kokhali, a local political leader, yesterday called a press conference in Coolna to announce that there would be no shortage of helmets and everyone walking the streets will have to wear them in the district town.
It may be mentioned here that in the lead-up to the briefing, there were no questions or concerns about the shortage of protective headwear worn by motorcyclists and a section of students.
"Helmets are very important, and I would like to assure you, there is no shortage of them. In fact, we have a surplus and more will be shipping in soon," Kokhali said during the briefing. "For safety, everyone must wear helmets when out on the streets. A leaf I studied said hospitalisations will go down by 420 percent if this is implemented."
When asked if the authorities would ensure that every member of five-member families riding on motorcycles wear helmets too, he said, "That's not my department. I am street."
When asked what his actual department was, he threw a helmet at the reporter. "See? If you were wearing a helmet, that wouldn't have hurt," said Kokhali, and ended the briefing as locals rescued the reporter.
