Man shocked to find house robbed despite windows having grills

A man was shocked nearly into speechlessness after discovering that his house was robbed despite there being grills on his windows.   

He was talking to reporters after his house was robbed on Thursday morning. The robbers stole at least Tk 83 lakh in cash and valuables from the house.

"Do people not respect grills anymore? There was a time when metal bars on windows meant you were safe from robbery and thievery," said Ahmedul Alam, the owner of the house and also a highly successful businessman.

When asked whether there were any security guards stationed at his house during the robbery, Ahmedul Alam became angry.

"Again, what do you really mean? Why would I need security guards when as you can see, there is not a single window that is without grills."

When a reporter asked if there was anything that would have attracted the robbers to his residence in the first place, Ahmedul said, "Nope. I can't think of anything. We do periodically hold parties where some bigwigs come with expensive gifts."

This correspondent saw that most of the grilled windows did not have curtains.

A police officer then asked whether there was any sign of break-in, Ahmedur replied in the negative and added that the doors to his house were always unlocked.

When the police officer started to tell him that this was a stupid thing to do, Ahmedur again exploded, "Like I said, we have GRILLS!!"
