SC lawyer Asif Imtiaz’s murder case: HC denies anticipatory bail to his widow, 3 other accused
The High Court today refused to grant anticipatory bail to four accused in a case filed on charges of killing Supreme Court lawyer Asif Imtiaz Khan Jisad.
The HC also ordered the four accused to surrender to the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Dhaka by November 15 in connection with the case.
The Metropolitan Sessions Judge was asked to disposed of their bail petition considering the merit of the case, Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik told The Daily Star.
The accused are Asif Imtiaz's widow Sabrina Shahid Nishita, her father ASM Shahidullah Majumdar, her mother Rasheda Shahid and brother Sayman Shahid Nishat.
Today, the HC bench of Justice Md Habibul Gani and Justice Riazuddin Khan passed the order after hearing a petition filed by the four accused seeking anticipatory bail in the case.
The accused petitioners appeared before the HC bench for bail.
Earlier on October 14, another High Court bench also refused to grant anticipatory bail to them in the same case.
Barrister Asif Imtiaz Khan Jisad died allegedly after falling from a nine-storey building of his father-in-law (wife's father) at Kalabagan area in Dhaka early in the morning on September 11.
Asif Imtiaz's father Shahidul Islam Khan, a lawyer, filed a complaint case with a magistrate court on September 17 against his widow Sabrina Shahid Nishita, her father ASM Shahidullah Majumdar, her mother Rasheda Shahid and brother Sayman Shahid Nishat on charge of killing him (Asif Imtiaz).
